The EduExo Pro is an advanced exoskeleton kit that offers universities an accessible and cost-effective way to integrate exoskeleton technology into higher education and research.

All the parts required to construct an arm exoskeleton that spans the elbow and shoulder joints are included in the EduExo Pro kit. By combining this hardware with an extensive manual, it links abstract ideas to practical experience and helps users understand basic concepts, gain useful skills, and cultivate the confidence and mentality required to create solutions for the real world.

It provides a project-based exoskeleton learning experience in educational settings that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork among students from a variety of backgrounds, such as engineering, medicine, and health sciences.

The EduExo Pro handbook is a comprehensive resource with over 180 pages. It explores various aspects of exoskeleton technology, offering valuable knowledge and skills.

EduExo Pro

It covers a wide range of subjects essential to comprehending contemporary exoskeletons, including human anatomy, mechanics, design, electronics, software, control systems, virtual reality and video games, and scientific studies. It is divided into ten major chapters.

An overview of a topic's theoretical underpinnings opens each chapter. The majority of chapters then proceed with a useful instructional portion that allows students to integrate theory with practical application. These lessons are designed to help users build and program the EduExo Pro exoskeleton step-by-step, strengthening their theoretical knowledge and honing their practical skills.

The format of the handbook in educational contexts enables both individuals and groups to go through it step-by-step or divide it among group members, each of whom specializes in a separate subject.

The EduExo Pro is designed as a versatile exoskeleton platform that reduces the time and resources educators need to prepare hands-on, project-based learning experiences.

Higher education and research requirements have been taken into account when optimizing the EduExo Pro hardware. The hardware has many elements of professional, contemporary exoskeletons to allow the user to access cutting-edge technology and develop highly relevant skills, yet it is simple to assemble, operate, and maintain.

All the components needed to construct a complete arm exoskeleton with a 1-degree-of-freedom elbow joint and a 2-degree-of-freedom shoulder joint are included in the box. The user's arm can be supported against gravity by a mechanical spring in the shoulder, and active, programmable arm support is made possible by a motor in the elbow joint. In order to program and test different control systems, a variety of sensors are employed to detect forces, movements, and even human biosignals.

Hardware Components and Features Overview

EduExo Pro

  • Students can experience varying levels of support thanks to the shoulder joint's two degrees of flexibility and the mechanical spring's easily adjustable pretension, which supports shoulder raising against gravity.

  • Elbow joint with 1 DoF of power. The torque produced by the motor is about 5 Nm.

  • Human-exoskeleton interaction forces are measured by a force sensor in the forearm cuff.

  • Angle Sensor in Elbow joint.

  • You can read sensors, control the motor, and program the main exoskeleton control system with an Arduino Nano 33 IoT.

  • The upper arm's IMU Sensor (on the Arduino Board) enables both static position estimation and movement detection.

  • muscle activity using an electromyography sensor and applying the results to sophisticated control principles. With 50 electrodes included in the package, the sensor can be extensively tested before new supplies are needed.

  • Easy to assemble: With prior assembly and soldering experience, the first EduExo Pro takes around 3-4 hours. If you build more than one, the subsequent units can be assembled in around 1-2 hours.

  • Robust and reliable design, optimized for classroom use: thanks to a custom-made PCB, little risk of cable clutter and assembly errors and enhancing overall robustness.

  • Easy battery access: Battery replacement is quick and straightforward, facilitating uninterrupted use.

  • Optional external power supply: Available for easier programming, preparation, debugging, and testing.

  • Push buttons can be pre-programmed with various behaviors, allowing for quick and easy demonstrations or testing of different programs.

  • Versatile assembly options: The kit can be assembled as either a left- or right-arm exoskeleton. If you have two kits, you can easily combine them to create a full upper-body exoskeleton.
